Research Interests

My research is in solving PDEs on the sphere using finite element methods, spherical splines, and preconditioning. I have also done some work with interpolation on the sphere. Currently I am working on solving the Laplace-Beltrami equation with Additive Schwarz preconditioning.

Images

Throughout my research I have generated various images. Here are some samples for your entertainment.

Plotting of a subset of subdomains for domain decomposition on the sphere.

Delaunay triangulation of 1600 points from the MAGSAT data set.

Interpolation of the function f(x, y, z) = cos(xyz) using spherical splines
with a mesh of 1000 points and no preconditioning.

Coarse mesh of 100 points and fine mesh of 800 points used for domain decomposition.
