2.2 The extend eastwards of the wetlands wildlife sanctuary shall be no further than where the land starts to slope uphill from the eastern drainage area to the Melaleuca Dam. (7/88)
a) The present forest edges shall define the minimum area of sanctuary or environmental protection zone on Bundagen.
b) The transition (or buffer) zones shall connect sanctuary and settlement areas, their width (above a basic fire protection minimum) shall be determined by the people of adjacent hamlets, the sanctuary caretaker group and any relevant sources of information and shall be confirmed by a subsequent GM.
c) The transition zones not immediately adjacent to an existing hamlet shall be defined and maintained by the sanctuary caretaker group, and others shall be confirmed at subsequent GMs.
d) The activities permissible within sanctuary and transition zones as set out in the Development Application (July 1984) shall be confirmed.
e) The sanctuary caretaker group shall establish management policies for sanctuary and transition zones and present this to a subsequent GM.
f) The fire group and the co-ordinator for land management (or a representative) shall consult and work together in the definition of fire breaks and areas of regular, occasional or no slashing or grazing outside settlement areas.
4.2 Headland Sanctuary Management Plan (1/87)
a)The headland zone to be maintained for our own recreation needs as well as conservation.
b) Fragile areas to be recognised and vegetation cover to be increased where necessary as provisionally indicated on map.
c) Old track (northern) on headland to be rerouted to follow natural contour.
d) South headland area (south of main track) to retain some open space for gatherings, festivals etc., while at the same time allowing space for mixed plantings of shade trees and fruit trees. Details to be approved by ESP and subsequent GM.
e) No buildings to the seaward side of the 300 meters coastal buffer zone line, to be indicated by the road. Except a Community project agreed to at a GM. Buffer zone boundary to be taken from the edge of the coastal vegetation.
f) No more buildings to be visible from the beach (anywhere on it).
g) Overall plan to be overseen by ESP.
4.3 Cleared areas for which no hamlet wishes to take responsibility at present shall be declared temporary environmental protection areas, subject to management policies to be defined by all interested people, including Fire and Sanctuary Caretaker Groups and application for specific use of areas of this shall be made to the ESP group with two weeks advertisement on the House notice board. 4.4 The following activities shall not be allowed on Bundagen unless particular circumstances and minimal environmental disturbance warrant them. Permission can only be obtained after two weeks advertisement on Farmhouse noticeboard then written approval from a Community Meeting and from environment or land management co-ord who are to inspect the site (if these are away substitutes may be authorised by the Community Meeting to inspect the site):
I. Clearing or construction of roads or access routes.
II. In sanctuary and forest strips and forest edges:
a) the cutting or destruction of living or dead standing native trees,
b) the use of earth moving machines, tractors, slashers, chainsaws or any other machinery.

5.2 The lower access route shall be restricted to a walking track and tractor access, prohibiting car use, except for community service vehicles. The lower access route is the track from the Community House (Farmhouse) to the headland zone. (4/88)
5.3 Motor vehicles access to Matakana for building materials and emergency use is to be provided by existing formed and accepted emergency and vehicular routes: ie. along the bottom track only when track is dry. Access to bottom track may be gained when it is not wet
I. by the route around the back of the community house down behind the school through the wetland area,
II. through the Bananas: only on the advice of the Bananas residents. And a culvert to be investigated over wet patches on bottom road. (1/91)
5.4 Access on the headland zone shall be restricted to pedestrians and community service vehicles; access for horses and bicycles is also approved. (4/88)
6.2 Any animal classified as noxious shall not be allowed to live on Bundagen. Noxious animals are wild dogs, feral cats, feral pigs, rabbits. (10/91)
6.3 Any fines incurred by Bundagen for the above infringement shall be levied on the individuals responsible. (10/91)
b) ESP is directed to decide which plants are to go on the register and which methods of eradication will be used and to consider the distinction between forest and cleared/settlement areas. This policy is to be brought to the next GM for approval.
c) Hamlets are to be held responsible for the removal of noxious plants within their stated sphere of influence.
8. Poisons
8.1 Bundagen shall create a policy re. the use of poisons on Co-op. property to become a bylaw. (1/89)
8.2 Any future use of poisonous non-biodegradable or hazardous substances must be discussed at a Community Meeting before use so that information can be given and the safest alternative be chosen. A policy to be created. (1/89)
8.3 All CCA (copper chrome arsenate) shall be excluded from Bundagen as of this date - 5th October 1991. (10/91)
