Brief History

BSc (Hons) Adelaide (1966); MSc Flinders (1967); PhD Cambridge (1971); Post-Doctoral Fellow, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (1971-1972); Queens Fellow in Marine Science, Monash University (1972-1974); Lecturer, then Senior Lecturer, School of Mathematics (now called the School of Mathematics and Statistics), University of New South Wales, (February 1975-July 2003); Visiting Fellow (July 2003 - present). In 1966 I spent a week aboard a Shell tanker (the Philine) and in 1967 I spent five months aboard a scientific research vessel (the Eltanin) in the South Pacific.

Research Interests

Water wave problems in general. More particularly, wave forces on structures and the effects of variations in depth, currents or lateral boundaries on water waves. Included in these are Bragg scattering problems.
