Dr. Andréa S. Taschetto

I am a climate researcher at the Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC), University of New South Wales (UNSW). I am also an associate investigator at the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science.

My research focuses on climate variability, ocean-atmosphere interaction, large-scale atmospheric dynamics and teleconnection patterns in the Southern Hemisphere. I am interested in how the tropical oceans affect regional climate on seasonal to multidecadal timescales. In particular, my research investigates the physical processes of large-scale atmospheric and oceanographic phenomena, such as the El Niño – Southern Oscillation, and their climate impacts onto Australia and South America.

My most known research reveals the impacts of the El Niño Modoki onto the atmospheric circulation and Australian rainfall.
